Belford National Park

Other planned events: 1080 wild dog and fox baiting program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a wild dog ground baiting program in Belford National Park. The baiting is expected to occur from Tuesday 1 May to Wednesday 6 June 2018, and will be using 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) meat baits. This program runs under the Hunter Valley Combined Wild Dog Management Plan in conjunction with the Hunter Wild Dog Associations that surround the park.
This baiting program is being carried out as part of a broader coordinated control program to mitigate the impacts of wild dogs and foxes on stock and wildlife. If you would like to become involved in the cooperative program please call the Hunter Local Land Services on 1300 795 299.
All baiting will be done in accordance with legal requirements under the Pesticides Act 1999. Although not expected, some non-target animals may be affected, particularly domestic dogs. Domestic pets are not permitted in national parks and reserves. We suggest that pets be restrained to ensure that they don't enter the baiting location during poisoning operations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
Please call ranger Ashley Deveridge on (02) 6574 5555 or email her to discuss wild dog management in the area.
