Other planned events: 1080 baiting program underway
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service in cooperation with Northern Tablelands Local Land Services and Forestry Corporation of NSW advises they will be carrying out 1080 poison aerial and ground baiting for fox and wild dog control. The baiting began on Tuesday 13 March and will be completed by Saturday 30 June 2018.
Baits containing 1080 poison will be deployed to reduce dog and fox numbers. The baits will be strategically deployed in areas of Guy Fawkes River National Park and Guy Fawkes River Nature Reserve.
The operation will take place within the following wild dog areas:
  • Red Range/Pinkett
  • Wongwibinda
  • Hernani
The program is part of an integrated regional pest management strategy.
1080 baits pose a high risk to domestic dogs. Keep all domestic dogs under control and away from baiting areas at all times. Signs will be erected at the entrance to areas where baiting is occurring.
Baiting programs are carried out in conjunction with ongoing ground and aerial baiting, trapping and shooting programs. The baiting aims to protect neighbouring stock from the impact of predation by these species. For more information, phone the NPWS Glen Innes area office (02) 6739 0700.
