Aerial baiting is expected to occur between Tuesday 1 May and Tuesday 15 May 2018, depending upon suitable weather conditions. Ground baiting is expected to occur from Monday 7 May to Saturday 9 June 2018. In both baiting operations NPWS will using 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) meat baits.
This baiting program is being carried out as part of a broader coordinated control program to mitigate the impacts of wild dogs on stock and wildlife. If you would like to become involved in the cooperative program please call Hunter Local Land Services on 1300 795 299.
All baiting will be done in accordance with legal requirements under the Pesticides Act 1999. Although not expected, some non-target or domestic animals may be affected, particularly domestic dogs. Domestic pets are not permitted within the nature reserve. We suggest that pets be restrained to ensure that they don't enter the baiting location during operations.
