Other planned events: Aerial spraying operations
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a helicopter herbicide spraying operation between Monday 14 May and Friday 27 July 2018. The operation involves the spraying of Metsulfuron methyl 600WG for the control of bitou bush. The spraying will be carried out in the following areas:
  • Along headlands and beaches in Myall Lakes National Parks
Aerial spraying is currently planned for the following dates and places:
  • Friday 1 June to Monday 4 June 2018 – No spraying due to forecast rain and strong winds.
For public safety, the areas being treated will be closed during spraying.
These closures will be temporary (usually for 1 day or less) and NPWS staff and/or temporary signage will be in place to indicate which areas are closed on any particular day. Traffic control will also be in place on Mungo Brush Road at times during this period. Please ensure you adhere to all warning signs and directions from NPWS staff.
Flying of drones in closed areas during aerial spraying operations is prohibited.

  • Stormpetrel Nature Reserve (north Rock and Inner Rock)
  • Little Broughton Island Nature Reserve 
For public safety, treatment areas will be closed during spraying. Temporary closures will occur on the day of spraying when weather conditions are suitable. NPWS staff will be present during the helicopter spray operation. Please ensure you adhere to all warning signage and directions of NPWS staff. Closed areas: Temporary campground closures
The following campgrounds will be temporarily closed to undertake essential maintenance, and to rest sites over the winter season:
  • Mungo Brush south
  • Stewart and Lloyds campground
  • White Tree Bay campground

Safety alerts: Damaged road bridge along Knob Road
There is a damaged bridge along Knob Road within Myall Lakes National Park. Motorists using this road will need to take extreme caution and obey all warning signage. For further information please contact the Great Lakes area office on (02) 6591 0300.

Closed areas: Crawford River Road - Myall Lakes National Park section
Crawford River Road within Myall Lakes National Park is closed to motor vehicles until further notice due to a collapsed timber bridge which is impassable to vehicles. NPWS apologises for any inconvenience caused to visitors. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
