There is a fire in this park called Sewer Works HR . Refer to the Rural Fire Service for latest information. Do not enter any closed area or area with fire. Closed areas: Cosed areas due to sewer works hazard reduction burn
Some areas of North Head in Sydney Harbour National Park are closed. The closure is due to the sewer works hazard reduction burn planned to take place on Tuesday 29 May 2018. These areas will be closed to the public until further notice:
  • Bluefish Road
  • Bluefish walking track from Manly
  • Gunners carpark onto Bluefish Road

Safety alerts: Shark net removal at Nielsen Park
The shark net at Nielsen Park will be removed for annual maintenance on Tuesday 22 May 2018. The net will be re-installed in September 2018. For more information please contact NPWS Vaulcluse area office on (02) 9337 5511.

Other planned events: Fort Denison changes to cafe and restaurant services
From Monday 26 June 2017 there will be no food and beverage services on Fort Denison due to the conclusion of the existing Fort Denison cafe and restaurant lease. A selection process is currently underway to determine a new operator for the venue, but it is expected that it will remain closed until 2019.
Fort Denison tours will continue as normal during this period. Drinking water and toilet facilities are available and visitors are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds.

Other planned events: 1080 fox baiting program
1080 fox baits (sodium fluoroacetate) will be laid in various locations across Sydney Harbour National Park from Thursday 1 February 2018 to Tuesday 31 July 2018. The baiting program includes sites at North Head, on the adjacent North Head Sanctuary. This is managed by the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust and the Australian Institute of Police Management.
The baited areas will contain buried baits or ejector capsules. Do not touch the baits or ejector devices as they are poisonous. 1080 is highly lethal to domestic animals and pet owners are reminded that dogs are not permitted in national parks.

Closed areas: Bradleys Head - New Year's Eve closure for vehicles and pedestrians
Bradleys Head is closed to vehicles and pedestrians during the New Year's Eve period. The dates and times include:
  • Closed to vehicles from Thursday 28 December 2017 to Tuesday 2 January 2018
  • Closed to pedestrians from Sunday 31 December 2017  to Monday 1 January 2018.

Closed areas: Fairfax lookout partial closure
Parts of the western, southern and eastern lookouts along Fairfax walking track have been closed due to cliff instability. The temporary closure is for the safety of the public, and fencing and signage have been installed advising of the closures. These closures will remain in place until works are undertaken to make the area safe. Fairfax walking track and carparks are open.

Closed areas: Collins Flat closed
Collins Flat Beach is currently unavailable for venue hire. This is due to the impact of high visitation on the critical penguin habitat at this location. This closure will be reviewed at the end of the breeding season in February 2018. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Closed areas: Steele Point Cottage closure
Steele Point Cottage, situated within the grounds of Nielsen Park, is no longer available for short-term holiday accommodation.

Other incidents: Sydney Harbour National Park accommodation
Constables, Green Point and Steele Point Cottages are no longer available for accomodation bookings. New options are being considered for the conservation, management and use of these buildings.

Closed areas: Fort Denison closure
Fort Denison is closed to visitation from Saturday 2nd June 18 to Wednesday 20th June 18 inclusive.
This is due to emergency maintenance.
