Homestead Restoration by Grafton & Districts 4wd Club

Cunglebung Homestead

Maintenance Day - March 31st 2019

The homestead was established around the 1850's, one of the first routes from Glen Innes to Grafton.

The Grafton & Districts 4wd Club has been working with National Parks and Wildlife Services for over 15 years to get this piece of Clarence Valley history to where it is today. Another cracker of a day to attend to Cunglebung Homestead.

Circa 1850

Twice a year club members attend to mowing, whipper snipping and tidying up around this homestead.

The Club has most members registered as NPW&S Volunteers, they give freely of their time and equipment to perform this task, this is also behind locked gates as are other huts that the club helps to maintain. The drought has gripped the area, many of the creeks & springs have run dry, the country is hurting.

After years of hardwork

These days are a great opportunity for our members to get out, especially after an extreme fire season that has prevented the club from traveling many of tracks and trails that we like to frequent.

Written by Jon Kenny, President of Grafton & District 4wd Club.

Thank you to the members of the Grafton & Districts 4wd Club for your time and your effort.

Adopt A Town - Coolah NSW February 16th & 17th 2019

The members chose Coolah in NSW to be our focus for drought relief. The February Quarterly Meeting was held in the town to coincide with the dinner and dance held on Feb 16th. It was a great event that we may repeat in the next couple of years.

How to find the right club for you.

Think about your situation, are you single, a couple with kids, a couple with no kids? Do you want to do hard 4WD driving, touring, long trips or weekend getaways? Just because you have a particular make of car doesn't mean you are limited to the matching club. Most clubs will accept any vehicle. Find a club that mirrors your family situation, your interests and your location. Meetings are worth attending so pick a club that meets at a time and location that suits you. Regional Pages are full of local info for you and your club.

The Association has 6 Regional Areas in NSW and ACT. Most of these regions have their own Facebook page. It's a great way to find out what's happening in your region. Check out the Contact Us page for the names and numbers of your Regional Chairs or search the region name in Facebook. You can attend Region Meetings too. This way you are on the spot for news and info. Best of all you get to know people in other clubs. Meet new people and organise inter-club events. This is particularly good for small clubs. This way you get the best of both worlds. It's a great idea to join these pages if you are travelling. That way if you get stuck you can contact the people on these pages. We are all here to help each other get the best of 4wd and camping.  The pages are strictly Club members of the association so you know you can count of them for help. The pages are also a great way to sell or buy gear for your car or camping. It's your own buy swap sell page for like minded people in your area.

Friends of 4WD NSW ACT.

Many large companies and sometimes small businesses spend their money supporting the 4wd community. Our Clubs benefit directly through The 4wd Adventure Handbook and Events Calendar, and the annual Jamboree. These businesses need your support in return. Like this page to stay up to date with offers, store openings, product launches and discounts. This is the place to find education videos too. It's a new page so it's just getting started. Stay tuned for big things to come. If you are a business that wants to support the 4wd community contact to find out how.
