Coolah - Adopt A Town 2019

Coolah 13-18 February 2019 - A huge success
What an awesome weekend at Coolah. We had 23 different clubs turn up over the weekend. Member's and their families started arriving on Wednesday the 13th to enjoy the town. On Friday the back gate that runs through private property in Coolah Tops National Park was opened for us. This back gate has not been opened for 10 years. This allowed us to do Coolah NP as a one-way loop. We had approx. 60-70 vehicles do this loop over the weekend and they all enjoyed the drive and the scenery. A big thank you to the land owners for allowing us to drive on their property.

Friday night we had movie night, we set up a screen in the hall and watched the Leyland Brothers ‘Wheels Across the Wilderness'. which was enjoyed by many.
Saturday morning we had our Quarterly meeting in the Hall, we had guest speakers from NPWS and the Upper Hunter Councillor Lee Watts from the Shooters & Fishers Party. Thank you to everyone who turned up to the meeting.
After the meeting we held a Fun-kana event which was loads of fun for all those that had a go or just watched.
Saturday night was the Adopt-A-Town dinner with the locals. We had a total of 240 people attend, that’s Association members and locals. We enjoyed a roast dinner and dessert which was catered by Aussie Country Catering in Gulgong and Andrew Andrews the local DJ provided the music for us. A great night was had by everyone who attended and new friendships have been formed.
A raffle was held at the dinner on Saturday night, a very big thank you to Iron Man in Mudgee for the generous donations that we raffled off. The raffle raised $1011.00.

I'm so grateful for every one of you who attended Coolah over the weekend, you all made me proud to be a part of the 4wd Association. The way you all conducted yourselves over the weekend was nothing short of excellent. From the Committee and I - we thank you.

Thank you also, to all people and Clubs that donated clothing, money and other items to Caring 4 Coolah (C4C) your kind donations are all appreciated. Repco Service Centre at Dubbo also gave a generous donation of 2x $250 service vouchers, to be given to someone in need in Coolah. Also thank you to the Triple Diamond 4wd Club for donating $1000. Thank you to everyone else I have missed.

This event was organised on the back of the Association giving $10,000 to St Vincent De Paul, to give out to those in need in Coolah and surrounding areas.
The combined total of all club members spending in town is $25,072
The catering and the supply’s for dinner, morning tea at the quarterly meeting, the hire of the showgrounds, tables and chairs and the other extras, gives us another $13,980.00 spent in town.

So together we all spent a grand total of $51,563.00 in Coolah by my estimate. This is an awesome effort made possible by everyone and we know it has helped make a difference.

I have heard nothing but positive feedback from the weekend, from both the locals and the Clubs and their members. Murray from the Showground was amazed to see how clean we left the place.
I have added below some posts that people from Coolah have sent to us on Facebook.

***** I would just like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to 4WD NSW & ACT for choosing our town of Coolah as part of ‘Adopt a Town’. Thank you for visiting Coolah this week and supporting the town by shopping in our shops, eating at our cafe, bakery, pubs and club plus filling up with fuel at our service stations. It was so great to see so many new faces about!
Thank you for hosting such a wonderful dinner at the recreation grounds last night. It was fantastic to meet so many new people who were all so kind and excited to be here to show us a good time. The dinner was wonderful and the dancing even better. I know the smile didn’t leave my face all night, and it was so heartwarming to look around and see so many smiles throughout the night.
Thank you once again for choosing Coolah. We wish you all a safe journey back home and can’t wait to welcome you all back again in the near future!
